Right now

We’re closed. Here’s what still works.

The practice is open twenty-eight hours a week. This page is open all of them. Tell it what you need and it will either handle it or tell you exactly who can.

What do you need right now?

Don’t wait for us to open.

Outside our hours, go straight to the nearest emergency hospital — minutes matter more than staying with your regular vet. Call us when we open and we will pick the care up from there.

  • Emergency clinic details and directions, always current
  • Tell us what happened — the note is waiting when we open
  • Your pet’s history goes with the message
Send a note to the practice

Book it now, at 11pm, without the phone.

Pick a slot that is genuinely free and get a confirmation. No voicemail, no waiting until Tuesday to find out whether Thursday works.

  • Wellness visits, dentals and surgical consults
  • A reminder before, so nobody forgets
  • Reschedule yourself, without calling
Request an appointment

Ask early — refills take five to seven days.

That is the practice’s own guidance, and it is the single most common reason people ring. Asking here means it is in the queue tonight rather than on Tuesday morning.

  • Prescription medication and prescription diets
  • Minimum five to seven days — the clock starts when you ask
  • A nudge when the next one is due
Request a refill

Yes — we are taking new patients.

Plenty of practices in the valley are not. Send your pet’s details now and we will have the records requested before the first visit.

  • Dogs, cats and the occasional exotic
  • We ask your previous vet for the history, you don’t
  • Please note: the practice no longer accepts cheques

The practice

Independent, and small enough to know your animal.

Caring for McMinnville’s pets since 1947, when the practice began as Davis Animal Hospital. Still independent, still on NE Lafayette, and still small enough that the person examining your dog is likely to remember him.

What this page still needs

Two photographs is not a practice.

Their current site carries exactly two images, and neither is of the practice. Every photograph here is representative stock, marked as such. A morning with a photographer would do more for this page than anything else on it — so here is the shot list rather than a substitute.

  1. Dr. Schroeder with a patientWorking, mid-examination — not a posed portrait
  2. The team at the front deskThe people who actually answer the phone
  3. The building on NE LafayetteSo a first-time client recognises it from the road
  4. An exam room, empty and cleanThe room as it really looks, before the day starts
